*tired tired tired*
I just can't believe that HOLIDAY IS HERE! I'm so thrilled. It was really a hectic week for all of us in school...especially after the kids' exam. Strangely, they are free and we became superb busy!
Wednesday, 15th November
Met Kelly and Hernie for breakfast before heading to school. I did not have to teach for the day as I have a seminar to attend. Wrote a detailed lesson plan for my relief teacher. Hopefully she could help me to complete the english syllabus! ^^
It was pouring heavily when Lena came to pick me from school to HPB. She was arrowed to attend the seminar too!
We went to King's Centre to pick up a book she got from a forum. I'm amazed by modern parents! I thought she ordered a book on scrapping, but it was a parenting book! The book taught parents how to teach baby MATHS! Baby! yes! Baby! It's very interesting on how the baby learn through flashing them the flash cards. Lena said the original flash cards cost $360!!! SO EXPENSIVE! Therefore, she said, most parents tried to do the flash cards themselves! They have to buy red little dot stickers for the flash cards.
As claimed by her, the little red dots stickers were SOLD OUT everywhere! I'm wondering how many modern parents are doing that flash cards! I tried to call Popular in Compasspoint for the little red dots. It was sold out too. However, the lady called the supplier and made orders for her. We drove to the outlet to make sure the colour is right. Guess what... one set of flash cards... 5000 dots! =_="
Oh, according to her, this is to train the baby to use their right brain. -_-" left brain right brain... we also didnt attend such courses or expose to such flash cards, we also can read can write can count and can talk! haha... well.. nowaday the children are so fortunate. They are really getting clever-er and clever-er! Check out the little baby in this webby. I also dunno the answer!! haha...
Thursday, 16th November
Woke up with a strained neck. My neck was sooooo painful that it was unbearable to sleep. I really couldn't understand how and when I strained my neck. Only could remember the time when Lena and I went to 7-11 to top up cashcard, and then I looked up the ceiling and OUCH there was a sharp pain! since then, my neck hurts!!!! :(
Without any hestitation, I went to see Dr Tan Kok Pin, The doctor who can do miracle! Not only he is experienced, he could explain in layman terms and most of all, he is COMICAL! keke..
I returned to school with piles of work not done... tat's it for me. Last day of school and I have not complete marking social studies, english unit 15 and unit 16, health ed not completed too. However, all these are not important! The most important thing for me to do was to submit the original copy of the programme booklet for my printing lady to print! Yeah... finally it's finalised and over and yeahhhhh ^^
AHhhhhhh... with not much time left for the things I have not completed, my principal took some time to talk to the children then the prize winners went to the library to choose their books (prizes) and proceeded to the hall for rehearsal. Ahhhh...so all I could do was to finish the health education book, and then the english. At the same time, I marked and returned back to them. *phew* luckily I was in time to complete EVERYTHING! yeahhhh...
Like what Jac said, everything was too smooth to be true! hahaha.. she superb accurate can!
During the break, I was really thrilled as before school started, I passed my printing lady the copy to print for programme booklet on prize giving day. During recess, then I got a bad bad news :| we made some mistakes. *argh* best part was, my printing lady stapled for us so... to remove and reprint a particular page then put it in again is tedious. After several discussions, we decided to reprint everything! Ahhh... I managed to print the covers and 2 pages of the programme before I passed it to Rach and Jac to settle as I had lessons. Thank goodness Jac was around to make neccessary amendments (normally she is not around when I'm free!). When I returned after dismissal, I was glad that everything was folded.
Thank you Rachel and Jac, Val and others who helped too. Thanks!
*phew* everything is settled. I hope no more hiccups!

D Day! Prize-Giving Day PLUS P1 Orientation. Argh... so tiring. Every year prize giving is annoying, disappointing and sad for people like me! For the prize winners, they are supposed to report by 8.15pm. Their parents, 9am. Tell me which parents would send their kids to school first then they come. no rite! of cuz they go together! Obviously, the children are not the one who can decide what time to leave the house. They are really innocent. Arghhh..
Every year, we are mad with issues of not allowing the late comers to go on the stage. But the fact is, they are not LATE! They reached at 9am, ON TIME! I really don't see why we couldn't allow the prize winners to go on stage to take the prize which they deserved! imagine they rushed up to the hall, 8.50pm, still got time (I mean everyone else was just sitting around, doing nothing) but was rejected to go on stage. If the pupil came when the prize giving was going on, not allowing him/her to go on stage was understandable. but, arrived and rejected?
Previously, the pupils who received prize would have their photos taken and put in powerpoint slides. That means, if the prize winner is late, the slide is taken away, the names will skip. They can only take their prize after the ceremony. Tell me who cares about the prize? It is really not about the prize but the applaudes and the receiving of prize from an important person!
2 years back, a gal sobbed bitterly cuz she was not allowed to go on stage! and even after all the teachers(excluding the in-charge) made noises and argued our points, they still refused to let her up the stage! Thank goodness one of the HOD 'override' the in-charge's decision and allow the rest of the latecomers (as they claimed) to be on stage, after the whole list of winners. But, at least.. ON STAGE!
Last year, one of my gal did not arrive by 8.15pm too. She came later than that. She was rejected to be on stage too. I was mad. Fuming mad with the in-charge, I told my level head, I told anyone everyone possible about it. Thank goodness, my level head fought for her and she's able to go up, after all the winners. At least, she got to go on stage. But the humiliation she suffered, I was really really angry!!!How can they be so crude to a 7 years old?!
Why should we made ourselves retarded with the pictures of the winners? Just for that 1 second, we restricted ourselves to such a retarded rule. They are just children for goodness sake. It might be their LAST chance to go on stage! How depressing it is for the children.
or just becuz we were afraid to give the wrong prizes to the wrong person? Why should we be afraid when all the prizes are labelled. How diffcult was it to find a particular prize winner? How difficult was that to arrange the prizes in order, the slides as usual but continues! I mean if the pupil comes on time, then, why still go thru the trouble of removing the slides, removing the prize and not even mentioned from the MC! I was mad. what kinda stupid planning is this! Arghhh.... simply retarded.
and I thought this year would be different. We convinced the in-charge not to take the photos of the prize winners. We should be flexible enough to handle such cases. However, I was wrong. Kelly's boy was late as his mum saw the timing wrongly. Right, they are at fault. But, they reached ON TIME. Every one was still sitting down, waiting and doing nothing. Yet, the in-charge refused to let him up the stage. Poor boy, he could only sit with his mum, together with the other proud parents. I was really angry and sad too.. not again. NOT AGAIN!

It impacted alot on kel. she was really upset and disappointed that it happened to her boy. I can fully understand how she feel. Poor girl. She went to staff room and wept. Haiz.. but what can we do? I seriously could be mean to override the decision of the in-charge, could have asked rach to stay with the slides, to tell the MC to stick to the list. BUT... it would strain the relationship of us and the in-charge.
haiz. Very depressing for all of us. not again. Why so stupid why so retarded! I mean every day we been talking about how we teach, yada yada, we shld care for our children, yada yada, we should look into the welfare of the children, yada yada, BUT are they contradicting themselves here?! =(

Kel's boy is very strong and brave. His mother is very understanding. All the more we feel sad for him, for his mother. I think Kel felt worse too...especially she could do nothing about it. Even we as teachers disagree with the planning!
Nevermind, a picture with him. ^^

Me with my 3 prize winners. From right(Glenn-1st, Jun Wuen-2nd & Wei Jie-3rd)
After the Prize-Giving Ceremony, we were free till 1pm. When I looked at my table, I was really depressed. Since when I am so untidy. I decided to start packing and clearing up. Thinking that I would move, I happily dumped everything into my trolley. Who knows... my dear operation manager decided that we would stay in our aisle since most of us going to P2 next year. Boo Hoo Hoo... I got to repack again. Serious serious. It's a major construction. Ahhaha...
I was glad I'm not the P1 teacher next year. I walked around the school to ensure the flow of the orientation. Several hiccups. First, a child was missing. supposingly to P1-8 but he was not there when the mum went to look for him. Searched high and low, in the end, he was at P1-13. =_= and at this moment, my slippers have to give way. Arghh...
One parent suggested to air-conditioned the hall. I also wish to have it! haha...
* will post the horrifying state of my table in my next entry! Stay tuned!*
