气死我了! So angry!

I am just pissed with someone, especially someone with NO sense of professionalism, disrespectful of authorities and ignorance of the people around her! I am not being stubborn here to stick to what I think is right and expect to get what I want but I just wanna make my point across that... in life, we DO have different perspective of everything and anything. We have to be professional in certain issues and ought to learn to accept from others in their points of view and respect the authorities! Arghhh...If the authority has oready decided the action, why still insist of changing it. To be very honest, I am D disappointed with the authority too. Authority with no stand, call herself an authority? =_="

Section A: Choose the correct answers by writing its number in the brackets provided.

1. A has 3 less than B. C has 3 more than D.
B has 1 more than C. D has 4. Who has the most?
(1) A
(2) B
(3) C
(4) D

I guess it's pretty obvious, when we choose the answer, we write its number in the brackets provided --> (2). That's even stated in the instructions. Some pupils tend to forget about it and wrote the answer into the brackets instead --> (B).

I truly understand about this. I know kids tend to be careless. And that's why, ever since they came into the school, we trained them and reminded them. Becuz of this, we tried to set topical worksheets, topical tests and give practice papers just by drilling this into our pupils' head. We have to warn the children, if they should write the answer instead of the number, we would have to penalise them and mark them wrong. ZERO marks.

It is unlike Section B and C whereby we search for possible workings and award marks. That's why we have Section A, B and C isn't it!?!

That's not cruel. That's reality. For those who don't follow instructions and didn't check their work properly, they have to learn it in a hard way. If not now, then when? We cannot be thinking that they are still young, we shouldn't "kill" them like that, they should not be treated so harshly, they they they....

Not that I don't care about my kids. Not as if I am not sad when I see that they obviously know how to do, obtained the right answer but wrote the wrong things. It is not that I am not sad or angry...

However, as much as we all would like to help our pupils to obtain good results, we must set our mind clear and be focus in our objectives of testing them. Not only we are testing understanding and concepts, we are testing for precision and accuracy. If we are so sympathetic in every things they did, then what's the point of testing? As I mentioned to some colleagues, we set the questions in certain format for a purpose. If I solely test them on concepts, I can do it all in the same format. Why do I need to set MCQ questions, Section B and Problem Sums?

I'm very happy for some teachers have the professionalism to accept the fact of what we, as the setter, vetter and the representatives of the department decided on. These are the people who are respectful, professional as a teacher and will consider for others. Imagine we have oready decided on not accepting the answers in the brackets yesterday, we did all our marking and analysis, we tabulated our scores, we keyed into the system, we did all the banding and.... today, because of her, we have to relook into the stack of papers, recalculate and regenerate the result analysis.

I am fuming mad.

How many in that class did in that way? For a mere 2 marks the majority of us have to give in and redo our stuffs? I find it pretty ridiculous!!!

And most disappointing part is when the HOD came and 'persuade' me to give the marks. She is the one who agreed with my points yesterday and gave her words on not accepting. And now she has to come and persuade me out of my point of view. come on.. who is the HOD now? She foresee many parents would call and query our way of marking. I don't see why we should be afraid of this. If any parents would call, I would say we did all our practices in worksheets, practice papers and even reminded them during the exam. At that point, parents would know that their kids are the ones not careful enough. would they blame the teachers? I doubt! So why are we doing this for the sake of parents enquiring?

Or maybe I should act more sympathetic and not aggressive. Then I get my point across.

I am disappointed, angry, frustrated with the ways how ppl do things. These are things that are straight forward and clear cut. Cant you get it? Why do we have to turn it around and give this matter a TWIST? hello... what if this happened....

Section A: Choose the correct answers by writing its number in the brackets provided.

1. Elephants ______ long trunks.
(1) has
(2) have
(3) having

By then, would people accept if the pupil wrote (have) instead of (2)? Aren't we contradicting ourselves if we refuse to accept that happening in an English paper?

I dont care if she is reading my blog. If you are, just remember...

BE PROFESSIONAL!

Hey I agree with you. I was one of those who wrote "B" instead of the correct answer "2" in the bracket. It was a clear-cut wrong. Like you've said, if the students don't learn from their mistakes now (i.e, not double-checking their answers), they might be in for more serious consequences later on in their lives. This sort of hand-holding attitude towards students should not be encouraged because ultimately, they have to learn to be responsible for themselves.
